Students from both the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council and the Central Board of Secondary Education boards take the test. Each year, approximately 25,000 to 40,000 students take the Assam Combined Entrance Examination, with the number of participants increasing annually. For Assam CEE applicants must to meet with following eligibility criteria: Candidates must possess a domicile of Assam state and Applicant’s age must be in between 17-21 years as on August of that year. Three years of relaxation in age for reserved category candidates and one year for graduate candidates. The upper age limit is extended to 22 years for B.Sc. graduates and relaxed by 3 years for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates. For CEE Assam admission into B.E./B.Tech courses, candidates must pass the qualifying examination in a single sitting, without any grace marks, in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English. "Single sitting" means that the candidate must appear for all four subjects together.
