Indian Institute of Foreign Trade
The rankings given by the National Institute of Ranking Framework help to give the institutes a better reputation by securing a position on their list. The position of IIFT this year was seen to go down by 3 ranks; it was on the 24th rank in 2022, and in 2023, it was on the 27th rank. The parameters that reduced the ranking of IIFT were teaching, research, learning, resources, learning, and professional practice. The officials at IIFT say that this drop in rank has happened because there was a lack of peer perception between the employees as well as academic perception. Also, the authorities have said that they are planning to incentivize research publications, which would boost the motivation of the research scholars.
The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade was established in 1963 as an institute that helps teach students about the trading industries of the world. The rankings it got from NIRF in the past few years were as follows: ● 81st rank in 2016 ● 30th rank in 2017 ● 23rd rank in 2018 ● 31st rank in 2019 ● 26th rank in 2020 ● 25th rank in 2021 ● 24th rank in 2022 ● 27th rank in 2023( latest ranking)
These ranks awarded by the NIRF are based on the performances produced by the institute in all these years. There are several parameters based on which these ranks are awarded to the institute; if they are able to perform best in these parameters set by the NIRF, then a rank is awarded.
The NIRF was made in 2015 with the purpose of assessing the various government institutes in the country and providing them with a rank that helps the institute understand where it stands. Also, this rank awarded helps the students understand which institute is doing well and in what fields specifically, as the NIRF body has some set parameters that help them judge the various fields in which these institutes have performed. The rank thus awarded by NIRF is thus of importance to the institutes as it defines their performance.
