The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has recently requested the National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Undergraduate (UG) twice a year. NEET UG is a highly competitive exam taken by students who wish to pursue undergraduate medical courses in India.

The NCPCR, which is a statutory body under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, has made this request in the interest of students who face immense pressure while preparing for NEET UG. The commission has emphasized that conducting the exam twice a year would reduce the stress and anxiety faced by students and give them another opportunity to perform better.

The NCPCR has also highlighted the fact that NEET UG is one of the most important exams for medical aspirants, and a single chance to appear for it could be a daunting task for many students. The commission has urged the NTA to take into consideration the interests of the students and consider conducting the exam twice a year.

Currently, the NEET UG is conducted once a year, usually in the month of May. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the exam schedule in the past, leading to delays and uncertainty among students. In 2021, the exam was postponed several times due to the pandemic, leading to immense stress and anxiety among students.

Conducting NEET UG twice a year would provide students with more flexibility and reduce the burden of preparing for the exam within a limited time. It would also reduce the pressure on students to perform exceptionally well in a single attempt, providing them with another chance to achieve their dreams of becoming doctors. In conclusion, the NCPCR's request to the NTA to conduct NEET UG twice a year is a step towards reducing the stress and anxiety faced by medical aspirants. It would provide students with more flexibility and reduce the burden of preparing for the exam within a limited time. The NTA should take into consideration the interests of the students and consider conducting the exam twice a year to benefit the students who are the future of the medical profession in India.
